Nomophobic Youth
Nomophobia (No-Mobile-Phone-Phobia) the fear of no communication with cell phones, the fear of their loss. The term was first mentioned in a research made by a British research company in 2008. It is open to debate if being anxious about the lack of mobile phone is a phobia or not. Nevertheless our research showed that young people feel more then simple anxiety when they cannot use a mobile phone. We selected carefully young people between 18-25 years old who attend to college. After setting the date, we knocked their doors on the promised date, and we immediately made them turn their phones off. Their phones remained off until the next evening, and they were not allowed to use their friend's cell phones. They had to manage their week-end plans and organisations without their cell phones. During this perios we were always there; we even crashed at their places at their first phone-free night. When they go out to meet their friends, visit their hangouts, or just be in their rooms, we were also there. The camera kept rolling almost non stop and we documented each moment, we took lots of photographs. The selected young people were truly surprised with such an offer, and we were naturally declined by some of them. If you would like to get a copy of the Nomophobic youth report, you may contact us.
